Asian growth market opens up new business opportunities for the INGENO Group
As a member of the economic delegation of the Land Brandenburg, Jens Flachsbarth travelled one week through China and Vietnam. Headed by Brandenburg’s Minister President Matthias Platzeck and Minister of Economic Affairs, Ulrich Junghans, the delegation members met not only with other businessmen, but also with high political officials.

Council, the Brandenburg delegation flew to Asia on board of a plane of
the Federal Republic of Germany.

Especially in China, the business mission as part of an official
delegation proved particularly useful for the participants. As before,
the Chinese government participates significantly in investment
projects, foreign participations and contracts. That is why contacts
with the responsible officials are just as important as bilateral
contacts with Chinese firms. The INGENO Group, part of the “rail
technology” section of the Brandenburg delegation, could already
establish valuable contacts with China’s Railway Ministry during the
first stop in Peking.
After a second stop in Shanghai, with further talks between German and
Chinese companies, the trip continued to Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital.
This leg of the trip was especially interesting for the INGENO Group,
as the Vietnamese, unlike the Chinese, are interested in co-operation
projects rather than pure know-how transfer. More specifically in the
field of public local transport, the region urgently needs to catch up,
as a modern transport infrastructure is non-existent. The INGENO Group
will be preparing a proposal for the planning of a light rail system in
Hanoi. Given the rapidly growing population in the Hanoi region,
short-distance traffic will be a key political issue and focal
investment area in the years to come, so that a sustained demand can be
expected.
Overall, the trip provided the participants with a better understanding
of Asian business culture and a first access to a booming market. The
quality of the contacts also benefited from the presence of Matthias
Platzeck who travelled in his capacity of President of the Federal
Council and was everywhere received with the appropriate honours.
