High-speed line Wuhan-Guangzhou

In the People's Republic of China the nearly 1,000-kilometer High-speed Dedicated Passenger Line (PDL) between Wuhan and Guangzhou is near completion and will be operational at the end of 2009. The INGENO Europrojekte GmbH participated by an engineering contract in consulting the Chinese owner regarding interface management and the work of the superstructure disciplines.

The high-speed Dedicated Passenger Line Wuhan-Guangzhou runs over a length from approximately 615 miles from Wuhan in central China through the provinces Hubei, Hunan and Guangdong to Guangzhou (also Kanton) in the region of the Pearl River delta. As a part of the new High-speed axis Beijing-Shenzhen (-Hong Kong) it is considered as the most important north-south railway connection. Owner of the line is the Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway Passenger Transportation Co. Ltd. with its headquarters in Wuhan, which is entrusted winding up the project by the MoR (Ministry of Railway). After the completion of the line the passenger trains running at a speed of planned 350 km/h on a slab track, will cross about 670 bridges and pass about 230 tunnels. By this quick connection the running time between the both metropolises should be reduced from current 10 hours to 4 hours. As a whole investment approx. 12 billion euros are estimated for the project (9 billion euros of it - building costs). The owner was supported by a consultation consortium consisting of Chinese and international experts during the whole planning and realisation time. The coordination of the extensive interfaces between the construction crafts and equipment crafts was realised within the scope of this consortium by the INGENO Europrojekte GmbH. Assisting the owner to create a comprehensive and functional grounding system and also to prepare and to implement the overhead catenary assembly have been two other essential co-operation areas.
